Aloha tanning lotion has helped to create a new niche market in the tanning industry: hip tanning lotion. The Aloha brand is one of several recent offerings in the tanning industry that is advertised as a tanning enhancer which uses interesting combinations of vitamins, extracts, and chemical compounds to supposedly increase melanin production and create a deeper, darker tan in the people who use it. Although there are several brands available that make similar claims, Aloha tanning lotion has emerged as one of the more popular tan enhancing products on the market. At prices as high as $65.00 per 9oz tube, this is not your mother’s suntan lotion.
Sunless Tanning Lotion and Tan Enhancers
In addition to the Hawaiian brand and its sub-offerings (Aloha offers products with names like Aloha Poele la Tanning Lotion, Luau, Mahalo, and Wipeout, to name a few), there have been a number of recent offerings in the world of sunless tanning lotion. These function by tanning your skin without the assistance of the sun or UV rays of any type. Unlike the old Copportone QT formula, these will actually turn your flesh to a bronze tan, rather than a strange shade of Oompa Loompa orange. The sunless options will free you from the risk of sunburn, but may need to be reapplied often if you want to maintain your faux tan, which can wash off or wear away after a few days. Some of these take effect instantly when applied, others require a waiting period of 45 minutes or so to activate.
Sunless Tanning in a Salon
Of course the option of using tanning beds in salons still exists for those who may be too busy to lie in the sun all day. Many tanning beds include a facial tanner that will help you get an even tan on your face. These machines also offer no risk of sunburn, but prolonged exposure to the levels of UV rays they produce can increase the risks of skin cancer. You get your tan and you take your chances.
Obviously, there are several options available for those who wish to get their skin to a nice bronze color. Tanning salons are an option, as are sunless tanning and the new wave of tan enhancing products, including the mega popular Aloha tanning lotion.
